There are two major problems
with conducting surveys online....
Inherent E-mail Problems
Nearly 20% of all legitimate commercial e-mail is filtered as
SPAM. Online research companies
regularly send out millions of e-mail invitations. Many of
these e-mail messages end up being "bit-bucketed" where even
though the member signed up and double opted in, it is
mistakenly filtered as SPAM due to the sheer volume from a
single party. Additionally, most panel members receive so
much e-mail everyday that our invitations are often lost in a
sea of other e-mail messages. People might look at an
invitation at an inconvenient time and forget to participate.
A large percentage of internet users change their e-mail
addresses every year - so contact with members that registered
often comes to an abrupt and premature end. This coupled with
the fact that it is impossible to determine if someone received
and opened your invitation makes sample selection and response
rate management difficult.
As a result of these numerous problems, many research groups
choose to inefficiently "over build" their panels and "over
sample" to get to the desired number of completed survey
responses.
Lack of quality visual
aids
Marketing research is
requiring high quality visual aids within their studies for the
purposes showing a new product concept or service.
Hi-definition video within surveys is a difficult proposition
because broadband isn't in the majority of households yet.
High quality and consistent video is required for concept testing, advertising,
and other forms of research. Even with broadband,
streaming technologies often fail to present a consistent high
quality video standard due to brief interruptions in internet
connectivity or lack of bandwidth.
The Benefits of A Private Communication Channel to your Panel
ALERT
NOTIFICATION: Panel members are notified with an alert in the lower right hand corner of
their computer when a survey is available. This is done gracefully
through an instant messenger style alert. The member can
accept or decline the survey invitation. Their response is
sent back immediately. Numerous follow-up reminder
e-mails are unnecessary. Using this application, we completely
bypass inboxes of clutter. Also worthy to note, if someone
changes their e-mail address, we are still able to contact them
through our private channel.
The entire application is firewall and proxy server friendly.
The installation is a one-click activeX control that launches
InstallShield. InstallShield then displays GfK's
software license agreement.
The application can be easily uninstalled at any time and is not
hidden or obfuscated in anyway. Members can uninstall from their "start
menu" or within their "add/remove programs" section in Windows.
